I'm just breaking it in?!?!?!

I think I have given the phrase "Breaking it in" a whole new meaning.

My dad has already told me almost every day that I am never going to live this down and since my neighbor across the street has decided to call me "CRASH" I figured I might as well blog about it.

I sold my car in September and until I find me a salary paying job I won't be buying another one. Thankfully Mom and Dad have kept Tamar/Kaylee's old car and I am lucky to be able to use it to get to and from work everyday. We have decided to keep it parked in the garage because supposedly we aren't supposed to park cars on the street over night. I don't know.
(I really think it is because it is an eye sore and my parents don't want it in front of the house.)

I really have no explanation as to how this happened or what I was paying attention to so I won't even try to explain to you what happened. I still am not sure. All I know is that the other day I went to back the car out of the garage and then out of the driveway like I do every morning, when the front corner of my car decided to get in a fight with the corner of the garage. It turned way to soon and since this car is a beast and made out of solid steel the poor house really had no chance. If it was any other car the house may have had some hope, but needless to say the house couldn't do anything to protect itself.

Here is a front view of the car. You really can't tell anything happened to it. It is very pleased to look just like it did before it met the corner of the garage.

But here is the house (edge of the garage)

Unfortunately it wasn't so lucky.

It actually looks a little bit better and a little bit worse than when it first happened. The car pulled the edge of the garage out a few inches so it was crooked. My Dad worked at it a little and now it is straight, but missing more stucco and wood. =( Are there any stucco and brick repair men out there?

I have always heard that things are better and more comfortable after they are broken in a little.
Mom and Dad I was just doing my part to help this house feel more like home.
I'm really sorry, but you are welcome =).

The secret to a full head of hair- Revealed

I have really missed living out on my own lately, but I am enjoying the extra time that I get to spend with my parents. Over the past few months it has only been me and Mom and Dad at dinner time which has on many occasions brought up some interesting topics of conversation. Thanks to my Dad, tonight I have something to blog about. (Sorry that I am sharing your little secret)

My dad has been blessed with a nice full head of hair his whole life. His 3 older brothers have all lost the hair on their heads ever since I can remember knowing them. My Dad has always been pretty pleased with himself for having much more hair than any of his brothers.

At Dinner tonight my dad revealed his secret that is keeping him from going bald.

During dinner tonight I glances over at my Dad and noticed one lonely strand of hair about an inch down from the rest of his hair line. I pointed it out to my mom and we thought is should just be pulled out. Well upon reaching for it I found out that my Dad is very fond of this little piece of hair. And at no cost will he part with it. When inquiring further as to why he will not get rid of this little lonely hair his reply was "If I pull out that hair, all of the other hairs on the back of my head will fall out in rebellion." He went on to say how this hair is a survivor and that it is an example to the rest.

So, Dad I love you and although I really want to test out your theory, I don't want you to go bald (or I don't want to be the reason you went bald), so I promise to restrain myself from pulling it out when you fall asleep on the couch watching TV. I will let you keep it. I however make no promises for Mom.

Hang in there little hair.

Nieces and Nephew

I know everyone thinks that their nieces and nephews are the cutest little kids that anyone has ever seen. And I don't blame them. There is just something about little kids that make people smile and in general little kids are pretty darn cute. With that said I just wanted to let you know that although you all have very cute nieces and nephews, MINE are just a LITTLE bit CUTER than yours.

I miss them all so much. One of these days we will get them all together at the same time, but I don't know if we will be able to handle all the cuteness at one time.

Please Bring Me my W-2s

Tax season is here and I never thought I would ever be excited to file my taxes.
I know this is a rare occasion and will likely never happen again, so I am going to enjoy it while I can.
Never in my life have I been happy to say I am poor, but b/c I am poor right now the wonderful US govt thinks I am too poor and wants to give me a nice chuck of change back.
I guess being unemployed for a few months this past year at least has some type of benefit!

Where are my W-2's? Mr. Mailman please bring them soon. I'll be waiting.

I Love to See The Temple

On December 26th I had the wonderful privilege of entering the Newport Beach, CA temple. It was a wonderful day. I think the rain and cloudy weather took a break and allowed the sun to come out on this special day just for me. It was a great experience and I was blessed to have it be part of my Christmas season this year.

I was happy that Karina and John were able to experience this with me and my parents and was so happy to see the Knecht family there too.

This past Friday I had the opportunity to attend the Los Angeles temple. It is so beautiful. I look forward to going back and visiting often as well as the other temples that are dotting the earth.

Blessed Sunshine!!!

What I love about California right now. It's January and I can sit outside without a jacket and feel the wonderful sunshine. I know we probably need rain, but I don't miss it, the clouds, or the cold weather at all right now.

Faith

I found these two quotes on someone's blog that I do not know, but I think they help put life back into perspective.

"Patient endurance permits us to cling to our faith in the Lord and in His timing when we are being tossed about by the surf of circumstance. Even when a seeming undertow grasps us, somehow in the tumbling we are being carried forward, though battered and bruised." - Neal A. Maxwell

There are so many things that happen in life that we don't expect and aren't things that we choose or that we wanted and in the moment we tend to ask ourselves "why me" and/or "why now?"as well as countless other questions.

I consider myself and my family to be very blessed. There have been times in my life where I have been frustrated and thought the questions of why me, why now.

A little over two years ago I started to get really sick. I remember going to the emergency room and thinking 'What know, why me?' I received a blessing that told me that I would be just fine and would get past this, but it would take time. Time it has taken, but for the last three months I have been just fine.

Over the last 2 years I have learned to instead of think why me and why now, to try to think why not me and why not now. The trials that we are given in this life are for our benefit, to test us in all ways possible and necessary that we need to be tested to become more like Christ and grow closer to our Heavenly Father. Although life right now is nothing like I would have planned and there are things with my circumstances that I am not content with, I am thankful that the Lord blesses me, carries me, trusts me, guides me, and strengthens me each day.

"If it were all easy then it wouldn't be a trial of faith. If everything always went as planned then there wouldn't be room for any miracles."

This was something that the author of the blog wrote as she was going through a rough time. I believe it.

I am so thankful to my Heavenly father for being mindful of me and my family and allowing us and me to be a witness to His miracles. There are so many miracles that I have seen in my life that I could go on and on about them, but I know that none of them would have been possible or have come to pass without faith through the hard times. With prayer, fasting, faith, and hope I do believe that anything within the Lord's will is possible.

One of the most recent miracles I have been blessed with seeing is that of my little nephew Kyle. I have still yet to meet him and I can't wait to have to opportunity to hold him in my arms, tell him I love him, sing to him, and give him a kiss. Before he was born, his parents were told that there was no possible way for him to be born on this earth. Medically it was impossible. Well through much faith, prayer, fasting, and hope he was born 4 months ago and is still going strong. Although he has had some challenges and continues to have some, I know without a doubt that he will overcome them all. He keeps amazing his Doctors and his parents everyday with all of the battles he keeps winning. They love having him home and his sisters can't get enough of him.

I know that although there are times where the things around us don't seem to make sense, they happen for a reason and are for our good if we can reach out and hold to our ever loving Savior, Jesus Christ who is reaching out to us, instead of being angry with the world and asking why me, why now.

Giving Blogging a Chance

I haven't really entered the blogging world because I don't feel like I have anything interesting enough to blog about, but I have had a lot of time on my hands lately so I thought I might as well jump on the bandwagon.
